Call for Volunteers to Plant 250 Trees in the St. Mary’s River Watershed

Start:
December 31, 1969 7:00 pm

forest_beforeforestThe St. Mary’s River Watershed Association, St. Mary’s College of Maryland, and others will plant more than 250 trees on Saturday, March 28, 2009, 9 a.m. to 12 p.m. The public is invited to participate.

The tree seedlings will be planted on a section of cleared land recently acquired by St. Mary’s College of Maryland. Trees help reduce erosion and improve water quality, as well as provide valuable wildlife habitat.

Please join us at 17761 Point Lookout Rd., St. Mary’s City (one mile north of the college) to lend a hand and improve your watershed. Parking is limited to along the highway, so carpooling is highly suggested. Bring gloves, shovels, post hole diggers, and work shoes.

This project is a collaboration of St. Mary’s River Watershed Association, St. Mary’s College of Maryland, college students, 4-H, Master Gardeners, and Farm Valley Nursery & Landscaping.
